We have just released an improved version of Nokia’s Mobile Rules! 2008 winning application, Strands Social Player 3.2, for Symbian S60 3rd Edition and J2ME (optimized for Nokia S40) devices (download for S60 devices here and for S40 devices here).
What is new in the new Strands Social Player 3.2?:
As you know, the Strands Social Player is a music player for mobile devices that lets you discover new music, connect with people, and share your tastes with friends. Version 3.2 works with Nokia S60 3rd edition or S40 devices (optimized for most recent Nokia S40 devices), which brings the Strands Social Player not only to 10s of millions of smart phones but to the true mass market of 100s of millions of Java devices.
Powered by Strands Social Recommender, Strands Social Player provides artist and song recommendations from over 6 million songs, automatically shows cover art and fully integrates with a social network of music enthusiasts.

Good news for the mobile enthusiasts out there: MyStrands is now available on Nokia’s WidSets platform, bringing a new way to discover music and see what your friends are listening to, right on your cellphone.
In the two weeks MyStrands WidSet has been available, more than 65,000 users have downloaded it!
WidSets is Nokia’s mobile widget platform, and is completely manufacturer and browser independent. Probably the biggest mobile widgeting platform in the world, it reaches more than 300 handset models and has over 6,000,000 users. As Nikolaj Nyholm wrote a while back, “WidSets is for the mobile what Netvibes is for the browser”.
How does this fit with the rest of our music services? MyStrands music experience is present in the complete triangle of Internet experiences:

This is great news!
MyStrands Social Player is a music player for mobile devices (Symbian Series 60, 3rd edition. Also available for Java) with two main characteristics: it lets you discover new music and has a built-in social network. You can meet people who like the same songs you play, send messages, see others’ listening histories, and much more… It has received great reviews so far and the best is yet to come.
