The Fira of Gandia in Spain will be the scene for the world-premiere of partyStrands outdoors, the audience will be able to influence the music a huge beach party by sending an SMS with their favourite artist(s) to a shortcode.
During the Borja Dance Sessions, the DJ will make a proposal of several songs that will be displayed on different screens, and the audience will be able to vote their favourite. The most voted, will be the one that is going to be played.
People will also be able to send messages to eachother using the different screens. partyStrands helps the macroparty to create a more dynamic and amused atmosphere, since it helps groups of friends interact to each other and with other groups in real time. Also it allows the DJ to communicate in a new and amused way with his public.
partyStrands beta-tests have been previously organised in Gandia. The system runs now in several pubs in Gandia, as well others bars in Madrid, Sevilla and New York.
Gandia will be first in releasing it in the open air, a macroparty celebration with thousands of people. More media of this event to be displayed next week on the this blog.

Wondering what to get your music-loving friend who already has every song he’s ever wanted? Get him to put down the headphones and pick up a book! There is a new feature on the labs to suggest books based on an artist. This is achieved by combining our artist recommender and Google Base. We would like to offer to our community members the option to discover content other than music. And if you can’t get your friend to ditch the headphones for an hour, at least he can read while he listens. More cross-content recommenders will follow, so stay tuned!
