Walking to Justice, with a Beat
I’d love to change the world, but I don’t know what to do.
So I leave it up to you
– Ten Years After, “I’d Love to Change the World“
It’s not hard to imagine that a 16-year old Bob Geldof was among the millions hearing the lyrics of that 1971 hit song. If so, he clearly took them very much to heart as for the last 20 years he has been devoting much of his energy and celebrity to the fight against world hunger and poverty.
On Saturday, July 2nd, Sir Bob’s “Live 8, The Long Walk to Justice” will feature a series of at least 10 concerts on four continents in cities including London, Philidelphia, Tokyo, Rome, and Moscow.
Performers will include many favorites of MusicStrands’ members, including Coldplay, U2, Maroon 5, and Black Eyed Peas. Rumor has it that U2 will join Paul McCartney to open the procedings in London with a special version of Seargent Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.

Paul McCartney — or Billy Shears? — will be headlining this weekend’s Live 8 Concert in London
